'Object reference not set to an instance of an object.' Pop-up Appears

Symptom: After installing Smart Dlogger, the 'Object reference not set to an instance of an object.' message appears and the application cannot be launched.

Causes and Solutions

1. This issue may occur if write permissions for the C drive are restricted by PC security settings. Contact your IT department and request write permissions for the following folder and program.

->  Grant write permissions to 'C:\Program Files (x86)\GDS Inside2' and 'SmartDLogger.lnk'.

2. This issue may occur if the Microsoft Visual Studio C++ 2010 Redistributable Package was not installed correctly. Even if it is already installed, the installation may have become corrupted due to external factors and must be reinstalled.

-> Install the redistributable packages in the order shown below. For a 32-bit OS, install x86. For a 64-bit OS, install x86 first, followed by x64.

1) Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package
2) Visual C++ 2015-2019 Redistributable Package

The redistributable packages are available at the following location.

 C:Program Files (x86) > GDS inside2 > SmartDLogger >Drivers > vcredist

3. If you are logged in to Windows using a standard user account without administrator privileges, only the desktop shortcut may fail to launch, regardless of the conditions described in Steps 1 and 2.

-> Run SmartDLogger.exe directly from the Smart Dlogger installation folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\GDS inside2\SmartDLogger), or right-click SmartDLogger.exe, select 'Create shortcut,' replace the existing desktop shortcut with the newly created shortcut, and then launch the application.
