'Object reference not set to an instance of an object.' Pop-up Appears

Symptom: After installing Smart Dlogger, the message 'Object reference not set to an instance of an object.' appears and the program cannot be launched.

Causes and Solutions

1. This issue may occur when write permission for the C drive is restricted by the PC security settings. Contact your IT department and request write permission for the following folder and file.

->  Grant write permission for 'C:\Program Files (x86)\GDS Inside2' and 'SmartDLogger.lnk'.

2. This issue may occur if the Microsoft Visual Studio C++ 2010 Redistributable Package was not installed correctly. Even if it is already installed, the installation may have become corrupted due to external factors. Reinstallation is required.

-> Install the redistributable packages in the following order. For a 32-bit OS, install x86. For a 64-bit OS, install x86 first, followed by x64.

1) Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package
2) Visual C++ 2015-2019 Redistributable Package

The redistributable packages are available at the following path.

 C:Program Files (x86) > GDS inside2 > SmartDLogger >Drivers > vcredist

3. If you are logged in to Windows with a standard user account that does not have administrator privileges, only the desktop shortcut may fail to launch, regardless of Causes 1 and 2 above.

-> Run SmartDLogger.exe directly from the Smart Dlogger installation path (C:\Program Files (x86)\GDS inside2\SmartDLogger), or right-click SmartDLogger.exe, select 'Create shortcut,' replace the existing desktop shortcut with the new shortcut, and then launch the program.
