The “7000-C8-0001” error during an ECU upgrade occurs when the Ethernet socket connection to the gateway, particularly a non‑CCU type, fails. Common causes include an unconfigured static IP address, a faulty cable, interference from aftermarket devices, or missing tablet OS updates. This issue can be resolved by rechecking the Ethernet settings, inspecting the cables, installing the Google Play system update, and performing a battery power reset.
Symptom
The “7000-C8-0001” error occurs when starting or during an ECU upgrade, causing the upgrade to stop immediately.
Cause
- Socket connection failure with the gateway, particularly a non‑CCU type
- The tablet's static IP address is not configured or is configured incorrectly
- Faulty or disconnected ECI/VCI cable
- Gateway communication interference caused by an aftermarket device
- Google Play system update is not installed, or the tablet PC OS environment is unstable
Resolution
Step 1) Recheck the Ethernet Static IP Address
In the tablet settings, verify that the Ethernet static IP address is configured correctly.
(The setting is frequently reset after an Android OS update.)
Step 2) Inspect the Cable and Equipment Connections
When using VCI3, verify the wired USB connection. When using VCI2, verify the ECI cable connection.
If a faulty cable is suspected, cross-check using another cable.
Step 3) Update the Tablet OS/Google Play System
Check whether the latest Google Play system update is installed and update it if necessary.
Restart the tablet after the update.
Step 4) Reset Vehicle Battery Power
Caution: Disconnecting the negative (-) battery terminal may reset certain vehicle settings.
1) Disconnect the vehicle battery connector.
2) Wait at least 5 minutes until all control units (ECUs) are completely powered off.
3) Reconnect the battery, and then retry the control unit upgrade 2-3 times.
Step 5) Remove Aftermarket Devices
Remove all equipment that may interfere with the gateway, such as dashcams, communication modules, and taxi equipment.
