Repair Process & Policies – Customer Support | GIT America

All dealerships must request repair services through their respective distributors (NSCs). Distributors then forward those requests to GIT. After repairs are completed, GIT returns the repaired parts to the distributors, who then deliver them back to the dealerships.

GIT cannot respond directly to inquiries from dealerships. Please contact your respective distributor (NSC) for all service or support requests.

Definition of Terms

Dealership: Purchases or receives products from a Distributor (NSC) and provides service to end customers.
Distributor / NSC: Purchases products from GIT HQ or GIT subsidiaries (GITE/GITA/GITI/GITB) and supplies them to dealerships.
GIT Entities: GIT HQ (Korea), GITE (Europe), GITA (Americas), GITI (India), GITB (China).

Repair Process (3 Steps)

Troubleshoot & Submit a Ticket
Begin by performing a self-check using the chatbot or article search. If a repair may be required, submit the repair request form (ticket). Our team will follow up.
Ship Your Product
If you are advised that a repair is required—or if the malfunction is obvious—submit the ticket first, then ship the product according to the region-based shipping rules. If possible, write your ticket number on the waybill and box.
Repair & Return
Repairs are typically completed within 2 weeks of receipt at our repair center.
- Warranty repair: We will ship the product to the address listed in your ticket. Notify us before the repair is completed if the address changes.
- Paid repair: We will send an invoice and ship the product after payment is confirmed.

Important: If your address, recipient, or phone number changes, notify us immediately. GIT is not responsible for misdelivery caused by incorrect information.

Who Sends to Whom?

Dealership ➜ Distributor (NSC): Dealerships must ship defective or malfunctioning modules only to their Distributor (NSC).
Distributor (NSC) ➜ GIT Entity: Distributors collect modules from dealerships and ship them to the appropriate GIT entity for their Region (see Region-Based Return Shipping).

Exception for Certain Eastern European Countries: Distributors and NSCs located in the countries listed in the “Eastern Europe Exception List” must ship directly to the GIT HQ Repair Center (Korea), without routing the shipment through a regional subsidiary.

Dealership Notice: Except for the above exception, do not ship directly to any GIT entity (HQ/GITE/GITA/GITI/GITB). Always ship to your Distributor (NSC).

Preferred Carriers & Costs

DHL is preferred (FedEx and UPS are also acceptable)

Paid repair: Outbound and return shipping charges will be added to the repair invoice.
Warranty repair: There is no repair fee or round-trip shipping charge. (Note: Duties/VAT in the importing country may still apply.)

Important: Avoid using general ocean or air freight forwarders, as they often cause customs clearance issues.

Customs & Paperwork Guidance

On the Commercial Invoice, declare a total item value of less than USD 250 (including shipping & insurance) to help expedite customs clearance.
Purpose of export: Clearly state—“Sample”, “Repair/Return”, or “Warranty Repair”.
Incoterms / Delivery Term: Always use DAP (Delivered At Place) when shipping to GIT HQ (Korea) for repair. (Use DAP even when using GIT's DHL account number 966 620 427)

CRITICAL — Do Not Use DDP for Korea: When sending items to GIT HQ in Korea for repair, you must never use DDP (Delivered Duty Paid). DDP conflicts with Korean customs regulations regarding the “Re-export Duty Exemption” for repairs, which will cause severe customs clearance delays and result in your shipment being held. Always select DAP.

Note: Duties, taxes, and fees may be charged depending on your country’s customs policies and the carrier’s procedures.

Q1. Can I ship my product before submitting the ticket?

A1. Submit the ticket first. The ticket number is essential for matching the product during check-in, repair, and return.

Q2. How long does the repair take?

A2. Repairs are typically completed within 2 weeks from the date the unit is received at the repair center, subject to parts availability and testing requirements.

Q3. I need to change my shipping address.

A3. Notify us before the repair is completed. Changes requested after shipment may cause delays and additional charges.

Q4. Which carrier should I use?

A4. We recommend DHL (account: 966 620 427). FedEx and UPS are acceptable; freight forwarders may cause customs delays.
