✅ Issue Overview

• Affected Vehicles: Vehicles equipped with a gateway (CCU) that repeatedly fail ABS/ESP Variant Coding even though all test conditions have been met
• Symptom: ABS/ESP Variant Coding repeatedly fails even though all test conditions have been met

• 

• Characteristics
  • This issue may occur after replacing the ABS/ESP control unit with a new unit having the same part number as the original control unit.
  • It may also occur if the vehicle's CCU incorrectly recognizes GPS-based date information from the navigation system.
  • An expired certificate or time mismatch may result in a negative response.

🔍 Cause Analysis

• Gateway (CCU) Communication and Authentication Logic Issue
  • Certificate validation may fail if the vehicle's navigation-based GPS location or date is recognized as being in the future.
• Security Certificate Status
  • Verify the validity periods of the certificate and CRL.
• Environmental Conditions
  • GPS information may not update when work is performed indoors, increasing the likelihood of a Variant Coding failure.

🛠 Corrective Actions

1. On-Site Actions

• Log In Again and Retry: If the security certificate has expired, log in again to renew the security certificate, and then retry.
• Update the Vehicle's GPS Information: Move the vehicle outdoors and allow the GPS information and time zone to update to the local time.
• Check the Tablet Time Zone: Refer to https://support-kia.gitauto.com/hc/en-gb/articles/54047285143705 and set the tablet to the local time zone.

2. Technical Action Request (Contact the Customer Support Team for This Action.)

• Inspect the Security Certificate: Delete the certificate (.bat) file in the nvci/xml/hy path, and then redeploy it.
