The “7000-C8-0001” error during ECU upgrade occurs due to a failure in establishing an Ethernet socket connection with the gateway (especially non‑CCU type). The main causes are unset static IP, faulty cables, interference from aftermarket devices, and outdated tablet OS. This can be resolved by rechecking Ethernet settings, inspecting cables, updating Google Play system, and performing a battery power reset.
Symptoms
The “7000-C8-0001” error occurs at the start or during the ECU upgrade process, causing the upgrade to stop immediately.
Causes
- Failure to establish socket connection with the gateway (especially non‑CCU type)
- Tablet static IP not set or incorrectly set
- Faulty or disconnected ECI/VCI cable
- Interference in gateway communication due to aftermarket devices
- Google Play system not updated or unstable tablet PC OS environment
Solution
Step 1) Recheck Ethernet Static IP
Check if the Ethernet static IP is set correctly in the tablet settings.
(Settings are often reset after Android OS updates)
Step 2) Check Cable and Device Connections
When using VCI3, ensure USB wired connection; when using VCI2, check ECI cable connection.
If a faulty cable is suspected, perform a cross test with another cable.
Step 3) Tablet OS/Google Play System Update
Check if Google Play system is up to date and update if necessary.
Reboot the tablet after updating.
Step 4) Reset vehicle battery power
Caution: Disconnecting the battery (-) terminal may reset settings in some vehicles.
1) Disconnect the vehicle battery.
2) Wait at least 5 minutes until all ECUs are completely powered off.
3) Reconnect the battery and try ECU Upgrade 2–3 times.
Step 5) Remove Aftermarket Devices
Remove all devices that may interfere with the gateway, such as black boxes, communication modules, and taxi equipment.
