Causes

During ECU upgrade via Ethernet protocol, at the memory erase (EraseMemory 0–5%) stage or dependency check (CheckDependencies 99%) stage, a request is sent to the controller (ECU) for a response but the controller sends a negative response.
Temporary communication interruption between tablet ↔ VCI ↔ vehicle Ethernet line (e.g., poor cable connection, IP mismatch, ECU internal processing delay, etc.).

How to Resolve (If Vehicle↔Diagnostic Device Communication Failure)

If “7000-31-7F10” occurs during DCU-related updates, please contact the automotive quality department or the controller manufacturer.

Step 1) Check Vehicle Power Status

Make sure the vehicle is in IG ON (engine OFF) state.
If the battery voltage is low, use an external power supply (battery maintainer).

Step 2) Inspect Ethernet Communication Path

1) Check that the VCI2 and ECI or VCI3 indicators are green.
2) Reconnect all cables (tablet ↔ VCI ↔ OBD) firmly.
3) Check the static IP settings in the tablet’s network settings.

4) Log out and fully close the app, reboot the tablet, and try the upgrade again.

Step 3) Perform Vehicle Battery Power Reset

Caution: Disconnecting the battery (-) terminal may reset some user settings in the vehicle. Proceed with caution.

1) Completely turn off all vehicle power.
2) Disconnect the battery (-) terminal for 5–10 minutes.
3) After reconnecting the terminal, try the ECU/DCU upgrade again.

Step 4) Try Another Tablet or VCI (If Possible)

If the problem persists, try updating with another tablet or VCI device to rule out device-side issues.
