This document applies only to vehicle models equipped with a gateway (CCU).
✅ Issue Overview
Applicable Vehicles: Vehicles equipped with a gateway (CCU) on which ABS/ESP Variant Coding continues to fail even though all test conditions have been met
Symptom: ABS/ESP Variant Coding repeatedly fails even though all test conditions have been met
Characteristics
This may occur after the ABS/ESP control unit is replaced with a new unit having the same part number as the original control unit.
This may occur if the vehicle's CCU incorrectly recognizes the GPS navigation-based date information.
A negative response may occur due to an expired certificate or a time mismatch.
🔍 Cause Analysis
Gateway (CCU) Communication and Authentication Logic Issue
Certificate validation may fail if the vehicle's navigation-based GPS location/date is recognized as being later than the current date.
Security Certificate Status
The validity periods of the certificate and CRL must be checked.
Environmental Conditions
When work is performed indoors, GPS information may not update, increasing the possibility of a Variant Coding failure.
🛠 Corrective Actions
1. On-Site Actions
Log In Again and Retry: If the security certificate has expired, log in again to renew the security certificate.
Update the Vehicle's GPS Information: Move the vehicle outdoors and allow the GPS information and time zone to update to the local time.
