Smart Key registration error: “Registration failed, Smart Key security has not been released”

Symptom

When attempting to perform the Smart Key registration function, registration fails and the messages “Registration failed” and “Smart Key security has not been released” are displayed.

Cause

If the Smart Key registration function is performed while the Ignition is ON (IG On) instead of OFF (IG OFF), the security authentication is not properly released, resulting in an authentication failure.

How to Resolve

Log out of the diagnostic app.
Close the diagnostic app completely.
Restart the diagnostic app.
Log back in to the diagnostic app.
Switch the vehicle to the IG OFF state, and then perform the Smart Key Registration (key registration) function again.
