Cause: The ECU returns a negative response to the Erase Memory or Check Dependency command during the ECU upgrade.
Resolution:
1. Confirm whether the ECU upgrade was performed in Auto Mode or Manual Mode.
2. If the upgrade was performed in Manual Mode, confirm that the correct ECU subcategory was selected.
3. Check whether any aftermarket equipment is installed in the vehicle.
4. Check whether any work has been performed on the gateway installed in the vehicle.
5. If the issue persists, contact the ECU manufacturer or the Kia R&D centre for further assistance.
