Error Code 5100-04-0002: Failed to Change VCI Mode
- Verify that the target control unit is correctly installed in the vehicle. (The control unit may not be installed, depending on the vehicle trim level.)
- To change the operating mode of the vehicle communication interface (VCI, VCI2, VCI3), perform a vehicle DTC scan once before starting the ECU upgrade.
- The vehicle communication interface (VCI, VCI2, VCI3) can switch from diagnostic mode to ECU upgrade mode. Performing a DTC scan sets the vehicle communication interface (VCI, VCI2, VCI3) to diagnostic mode and prepares it for the ECU upgrade.
- Test with a spare vehicle communication interface (VCI, VCI2, VCI3) to determine whether the issue is with the vehicle communication interface or the vehicle.
- If this error code occurs during recovery following a failed software update, contact the Vehicle Quality Department or the control unit manufacturer.
Error Code 5021-27-7F24: Security Access Request Failed (Negative Response 24)
- This error occurs when Negative Response 24 (Request Sequence Error) is received from the control unit.
- Be sure to verify that the vehicle communication interface (VCI, VCI2, VCI3) currently in use is operating correctly.
- Perform an upgrade test using a spare vehicle communication interface (VCI, VCI2, VCI3).
- Also test both wired and wireless connections (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi Direct) between the VCI and the tablet PC.
- If the upgrade still cannot be completed after performing these tests, submit an inquiry with the vehicle identification number (VIN).
