The “7000-C8-0001” error during an ECU upgrade occurs when an Ethernet socket connection to the gateway, particularly a non-CCU type, cannot be established. Common causes include an unconfigured static IP address, a defective cable, interference from aftermarket devices, or missing tablet OS updates. This issue can be resolved by rechecking the Ethernet settings, inspecting the cables, installing Google Play system updates, and performing a battery power reset.
Symptom
The “7000-C8-0001” error occurs when the ECU upgrade is started or while it is in progress, and the upgrade stops immediately.
Cause
- Socket connection failure with the gateway, particularly a non-CCU type
- Tablet static IP address not configured or configured incorrectly
- Defective or disconnected ECI/VCI cable
- Gateway communication interference caused by an aftermarket device
- Google Play system update not installed or unstable tablet PC OS environment
Resolution
Step 1) Recheck the Ethernet Static IP Address
In the tablet settings, verify that the Ethernet static IP address is configured correctly.
(The settings are frequently reset after an Android OS update.)
Step 2) Inspect the Cable and Equipment Connections
When using VCI3, verify the wired USB connection. When using VCI2, verify the ECI cable connection.
If a defective cable is suspected, perform a cross-check using another cable.
Step 3) Update the Tablet OS/Google Play System
Check whether the latest Google Play system update is installed and update it if necessary.
Restart the tablet after the update.
Step 4) Reset Vehicle Battery Power
Caution: Disconnecting the negative (-) battery terminal may reset certain vehicle settings on some vehicles.
1) Disconnect the vehicle battery connector.
2) Wait at least 5 minutes for all control units (ECUs) to power off completely.
3) Reconnect the battery, and then retry the control unit upgrade 2-3 times.
Step 5) Remove Aftermarket Devices
Remove all devices that may interfere with the gateway, including dashcams, communication modules, and taxi equipment.
