Symptom
The ECU upgrade stops at 95–99%, and error “7000-31-7F72” is displayed on the screen.
Cause
- The ECU returns a negative response because the routine execution conditions are not met.
Resolution
If “7000-31-7F72” is displayed during a DCU-related update, contact the Vehicle Quality Department or the control unit manufacturer.
Step 1) Check the Vehicle Power Status
Verify that the vehicle is in the IG On state with the engine OFF.
If the voltage appears low, use of an external power supply is recommended.
Step 2) Disconnect Aftermarket Equipment
Disconnect all aftermarket equipment, such as taxi terminals, dashboard cameras, and LED advertising displays, and then retry the upgrade.
Aftermarket equipment has been identified as the most common cause in the field.
Step 3) Perform a Vehicle Battery Power Reset
Caution: Disconnecting the negative (-) battery terminal may reset vehicle settings on some models.
1) Turn the vehicle power completely OFF.
2) Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal for 5–10 minutes.
3) Reconnect the terminal, and then retry the ECU upgrade.
Step 4) If the Issue Recurs on the Same Vehicle Model
Contact the control unit (ECU) manufacturer. Contact the Vehicle Quality Department, GSW GCCS (Hyundai/Genesis), or the Technical Hotline (Kia).
