KDS 2.0 updates (software version NEK-02-0099 or higher) require at least 20GB of free storage due to a large ECU upgrade, which may cause installation failures on 64GB tablets. Users should manually clear storage or perform a factory reset, and then retry the update. Deleted ROM data can be restored using Auto mode or Manual Mode. If the issue persists, upgrading to a 128GB device is recommended. Contact support if additional assistance is required.

Symptoms
You may experience one of the following issues when attempting to download the latest update, software version NEK-02-0099 or higher:
- Internet Update does not start.
- The following error message appears: “There is not enough storage space for the update.”
Why this is happening
The large file size requires a significant amount of free storage.
- Installation requires at least 20GB of free storage.
Resolution
If you encounter this issue, follow these steps to free up storage and complete the update.
Step 1: Manually clear tablet storage
- On the tablet, go to Settings > Device care > Storage.
- Check the available space. At least 20GB of free space is required.
- Delete outdated data, unused apps, or temporary files until 20GB of free space is available.
Alternative: Perform a Factory Reset
If you cannot free up 20GB of storage by deleting files, you may need to perform a factory reset on the tablet (Samsung Android).
Warning: A factory reset will erase all data, apps, and settings from the device. Make sure you know your Google/Samsung account passwords, KSW account passwords, and KDS 2.0 license key, as they will be required after the reset.
- Go to Settings > General management > Reset.
- Select Factory data reset.
- Scroll down and tap Reset. Enter your PIN or password if prompted.
- Tap Delete all to confirm.
- After the tablet restarts, reinstall the KDS 2.0 app and proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Retry the installation
- After freeing up enough space, retry the update or ROM data installation.
- If the installation is successful but you need to recover specific ROM data that was deleted, proceed to Step 3.
Step 3: Restore deleted ECU ROM data using Auto mode
If you deleted ROM data that is still required, follow these steps to restore it:
Note: The required ROM files will be securely downloaded from the server based on your existing ROM data profile.
- Open 'ECU Upgrade' and select Auto mode.
- Allow the system to automatically check the existing ROM data.
- Wait for the “Downloading” process to finish.
Step 4: Restore ROM data using Manual Mode
If Auto mode does not restore all the required ROM files:
- Select Manual Mode in the ROM recovery function.
- In Manual Mode, select the required event or subcategory. The selected ROM data will begin downloading.
If the issue persists
On a 64GB tablet, the actual usable storage is often less than the stated 64GB capacity because of the operating system and system files.
- Upgrading to a 128GB tablet may resolve this issue.
