KIAI | KDS 2.0 | Resolving “Not enough storage” Internet Update errors on 64 GB tablets

Symptoms

You may experience one of the following issues when attempting to download software version NEK-02-0099 or later:

• Internet Update does not start.
• The following error message appears: “There is not enough storage space for the update.”

Why this is happening

Resolution

If you encounter this issue, follow these steps to free up storage and complete the update.

Step 1: Manually clear tablet storage

1. On the tablet, go to Settings > Device care > Storage.
2. Check the available storage. At least 20 GB of free storage is required.
3. Delete outdated data, unused apps, or temporary files until at least 20 GB is available.

Alternative: Perform a factory reset

If you cannot free up 20 GB of storage by deleting files, you may need to perform a factory reset on the Samsung Android tablet.

Warning: A factory reset erases all data, apps, and settings from the device. Ensure that you know your Google/Samsung account passwords, KSW account password, and KDS 2.0 licence key, as they will be required after the reset.

1. Go to Settings > General management > Reset.
2. Select Factory data reset.
3. Scroll down and tap Reset, and then enter your PIN or password if prompted.
4. Tap Delete all to confirm.
5. After the tablet restarts, reinstall the KDS 2.0 app and proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Retry the installation

1. After freeing up sufficient storage, retry the update or ECU ROM data installation.
2. If the installation is successful but specific deleted ECU ROM data must be restored, proceed to Step 3.

Step 3: Restore deleted ECU ROM data using Auto mode

If you deleted ECU ROM data that is still required, restore it as follows:

Note: The required ECU ROM files will be securely downloaded from the server based on the existing ECU ROM data profile.

1. Open “ECU Upgrade” and select Auto mode.
2. Allow the system to automatically check the existing ECU ROM data.
3. Wait until the “Downloading” process is complete.

Step 4: Restore ECU ROM data using Manual Mode

If Auto mode does not restore all required ECU ROM files:

1. Select Manual Mode in the ECU ROM recovery function.
2. In Manual Mode, select the required event or subcategory. The selected ECU ROM data will begin downloading.
